Nailah is currently an undergraduate student living in Portland, Oregon. She attends Portland Community College and is planning to pursue her degree in social services. Nailah entered the child welfare system when she was 2 years old, and spent approximately 16 years in foster care. She moved homes twice and was placed in a congregate care facility. Nailah was adopted at the age 2 with one of her sisters, but ultimately moved out of the adopted home at the age of 11. By the time she was 18 years of age, she moved out of a kinship care placement with the help of an ILP worker. Nailah dreams of having her own nonprofit organization that helps at-risk teens and young adults who have experienced sex trafficking and other struggles throughout life. Nailah is an activist and supporter of foster youth and young women. Her entrepreneurial passions have led to the development of her own business of homemade soaps and scrubs. She enjoys doing makeup, being a mother, and cooking.
