Tonya Bauer spent 18 years in Minnesota’s foster care system. Entering foster care once is a traumatic experience - imagine entering the foster care system twice, as Tonya did. Although she was faced with many challenges, Tonya has made the decisions in life to be a successful youth and never let bumps in the road hold her back. She is currently a senior at Winona State University studying corrections. After receiving a degree and training to become a police officer, Tonya hopes to one day attain her dream of becoming a juvenile probation officer. Tonya is a volunteer, a sister, a student … and a foster kid.
