The 2017 Oregon Teen Conference provided foster youth across Oregon the opportunity to engage in various interactive and informative wellness workshops and activities sponsored by FosterClub. This was the fourth year in a row that conference was held at Camp Arrah Wanna, which again proved to be a successful and appropriate wellness environment for all attendees.
FosterClub contributed 4 staff members, 11 All-Stars (interns), as well as 2 Level II’s (interns) to facilitate, council and assist in meeting the needs of the 58 youth and their ILP providers. There were 22 ILP chaperones. In total 97 people attended.
The theme of Oregon Teen Conference this year was “Dream Big, Aim High.” An opportunity for youth to understand how trauma affects their mind, body, and self-esteem. Youth will learn fun and entertaining ways to deal with stress and everyday pressures. Unique art projects will help youth learn to refocus their thoughts and energy. Youth will leave re-energized and standing tall!
Some of the highlights of this year's conference included the evening activity “Carnival”, Talent Show was a big hit, ACES spotlighted in both opening & closing sessions, many first-time conference attendees both youth and chaperones. Every workshop and activity facilitated at Oregon Teen Conference 2017 had an impressive over average rating of “good” The wellness and recreation activities the highest ratings, and the most comments.
